Type Locality and Naming

Lower terrain adjacent to the side of and sub-parallel to the Precambrian gneiss hills, east of Klaeng district, Rayong province (Bunopas, 1981).

Synonym: หินชีสต์และฟิลไลต์แกลง

Lithology and Thickness

The lower part of the sequence consists of interbedded quartz-mica schist and tuffaceous quartzite interbedded with brown tuffaceous phyllite. The upper part is schist, interbedded with white to brownish grey quartzite, and quartzose sandstone. Both of these units are well-cleaved and mesoscopically folded. In some areas near Klaeng the rocks are grey slate, slaty shale, chert and phyllite with rare, thin limestone bands.
